Superstion Mountains

Here we are at the beginning of the hike. This is the Dixon family (half of them anyway), they are our best friends. Rarely do you find a couple that both spouses like one another equally. I think our friendship works because we love to compete and challenge each other in many different areas. We really compliment each other. They also have children similar ages and sexes as ours, that in itself is rare. It makes for perfect summer vacations.

No hike would be complete without a few battle scars!! Flatiron is a difficult hike. It goes 1,761 feet in eight-tenths of a mile. Just before you get to the top is a section 10-12 feet straight up the rock face. We made it 6 out of 8 miles and the kids did great. The kids were pretty beat by this point so we did not make it to the top. This is a beautiful hike full of wildflowers below and through the trail. The colors and textures of the rock formations are incredible. This is nothing but the best of God's glorious creation. His palette of colors is unbelievable and I am in awe of a God who designed such beauty.
