Looking at my black lab Sage sweating out in the 110* heat, I decided she needed a hair cut. I decided to call around to see how much $$ I was going to have to fork up. Boy was I shocked! I thought to myself why am I cutting all these clients of mine, when I could be making the big bucks clipping Fido.
That was before I went to Petsmart to buy special clippers (I thought it would be totally wrong to use the same ones I use on my male clients) so that I could give Sage the haircut she needed. Surely this is no different than some thick haired client who won't sit still. Wow! After an hour and a half, with brand new $75 clippers I barely was able to make a dent in her fur. Poor thing looks like she just got out of lawnmower camp for teenage boys! I was so frustrated and she just kept giving me those playful eyes and saying "why do you keep tickling me like that?"
Note to self-- grooming IS different from cutting and I give props to those people who lovingly take care of animals. I love doing new styles and I am always up for a challenge, but I will keep to my human clients in order to save myself the public humiliation of someone seeing my dog and then asking "You cut hair?"
