Rocky Point Vacation...
We had so much fun! We went to this wonderful , secluded home right on the beach. We have Nena, who cleans and cooks our meals. There is nothing better than homemade tortillas, beans, rice, salsa, guacamole and various other Mexican dishes (this is the reason I gained 6 pounds on this trip--ouch!) It is such a treat and really makes the vacation relaxing.
This is the first time Nolan and Cassidy did not go with us. They both had to work and could not get that much time off because of upcoming camps. That was strange, to not have them there. I missed them a lot but it was interesting to see the dynamics of only two children. It seemed a breeze and I loved getting to focus on the two younger guys. Sometimes God blesses us in the oddest ways, by just the difference in getting special time with each of them and I did not take it for granted.
Our drama was when Scott got hit by a stingray. He has a high tolerance for pain but it got the best of him. He did soak it in hot water right away but the pain kept increasing. He made a trip to the "Urgencia" where they injected the puncture with some substance (we are not sure what it was as the Dr. spoke Spanish) that relieved the pain. We called him gimpy as canckles formed and the bleeding internally turned his foot a lovely shade. There have been blisters that have formed all over his foot as a result of the sting, but it is getting better. He had to wear shoes to work on Monday and was so glad to put his feet up when he got home.
We played tennis everyday (except Scott :-{), baseball and volleyball on the beach. That was my favorite part. We played cards and had a fire every night. The kids all got along and they made up all kinds of games and make believe fun.
God graced us with seeing his creation- a dead dolphin (it had just died and was beautiful), a sea lion, stingrays everywhere (this year was an unusual amount of them in the water, we watched as other people were stung as well), jellyfish, sea slugs, and all kinds of fish. We went fishing and caught a bunch (they were staked in the sand but when the tide came in, the fish went out) of different kinds of fish. I think this was the favorite of the dads!! I am not sure who was having more fun fishing, the dads or the kids.
I am always amazed at how vast God is. To be on the beach where He knows every shell and grain of sand takes my breath away. The colors in the sunset and the sounds as the waves come to shore are purely an example of His glory. I feel privileged to experience a piece of how it is revealed in his creation!!
