Every year for my birthday, my friend Cheryl takes me to a spa for "Cheryl-time" It has been a highlight of my birthday in the past. It was no different this year. We start out early in the morning and she greets me at the door with a *$. We then have the drive over to chat away all the cares of the world. This year we went to Revive, the JW Marriot Spa. We started in a Yoga class, this was my first time to do yoga and it was very interesting. I loved the stretching, and some of the moves were difficult but it was refreshing. I think you can substitute prayer wherever meditation is imposed. After a few miles on the treadmill we were ready for some relaxation.
After laying out in the sun by the pool, we caught up on each others lives. This was the best part of the day for me. Cheryl is an awesome friend and we discovered we are the perfect spa buddies. We love the lemon water as well as the array of fruit and nuts that are there for the taking. We like to use every inch of the spa--the sauna, the steam room, the spa boutique, the pool and of course the showers with all the foo-foo stuff you can use:-) We think the working out is the fun part so that when we get to the treatment of our choice, we are ready to really relax.
Lunch was awesome in their Bistro. It started with my very favorite dish-Edamame! It just gets better from here. We split a yummy hummus dish with a spicy flavor that had some kick and a gyro that had a side of the best berries I have had all summer. Very tasty!!!
The treatment--I had a deep tissue massage with HELGA (not really but it felt like it) I have always wanted to try one and I know now that you have to had a previous fight in the UFC to enjoy a treatment like that. It hurt sometimes so much that I was literally trying not to to wince or cry out, that I actually started laughing. You know that nervous, uncomfortable laugh? It was a great massage because I can still feel it two days later!
The showers there are awesome! We cleaned up and headed for home. I was sorry to see the day end but we did have a great time. I have wonderful people in my life that God has blessed me with!! I would reccommend this spa with a 41/2 star rating. It has a great atmosphere and wonderful services with beautiful grounds that anyone could relax in.
