This is our annual family camping trip. It only rained for two hours the whole weekend, just enough to see God's glory without being soaked. Unfortunately, Nolan and Cassidy had to work and Milan had football, so they were not able to make it. It never feels quite like a whole family when they are not there, but Levi had a blast! We hiked and saw such beauty, while the dogs were happy we located a stream for them to swim in.
The men pick a spot(usually the same spot every year),pitch the tents, set up the kitchen and bathroom=) and we come up later with all the kids after they have cooked dinner. We take turns cooking and cleaning, with the most important function--fire maintenance.
After a few games of capture the flag, horseshoes, bocci ball, baseball, the hammocks come in very handy. We play lots of card games and hide and seek, even after dark. We sing around the fire while the kids roast smores--o.k. I roast smores too=) My favorite is still coffee around the fire when everyone is sleeping. Scott usually wakes up about three because he hears the elk buggeling and he can't stand not being out there with them. I stick to my comfy sleeping bag while he is hiking and chasing them before the sun comes up.
We love this trip and our special friends that endure us every year. I could really live in a cabin away from the rushed, techno life that is absent here!
