This 4th of July was made a little cooler this year by getting up to the mountains. We were not sure if it would be too crowded, but it was perfect. We joined four other families from church and headed to the trees.
It was a weekend filled with horseshoes, bow shooting, card games, hiking, puzzles, and just plain sitting around chatting at camp. There were no fires allowed, so at night we star gazed and even sang our own music. The kids all had friends to hang with, as well as being with the 'grown ups' , I so love these kids. There were five dogs as well that the kids loved playing with, they were not short of attention!
We spent one day crawdad fishing. A full pound of bacon =about 150 crawfish. This was a highlight for the kids (and some of the adults as well) and they were very sad we did not take them home to cook.
We had a great time being together as families and allowing the body of Christ do what it does best, serve each other. There was a broken down vehicle and everyone pulled together to tow, to help set up tents and even all the meals were cooked together with joy. The weather was perfect and the company divine, it was a very relaxing weekend and I can't wait until we go back.
