I knew I was in trouble when a Neopet commercial came on and I started crying. Thoughts of my kids playing Neopets was not very long ago. My daughter just got her permit and a job in the same day. I don't think it hit until I saw her in her uniform. Granted, first jobs are part of life, but to see it happening as a step away from me and a step toward independence is sure eye opening.
I couldn't wait until she got home from her first day to see what it would be like for her. As she shared about her boss and different people she came into contact with at the "Rice Garden" I just knew we had moved into a new stage in life. One where outside forces could affect her world view of people and life and another realization she is growing up to be such a wonderful woman of God. It seems pretty sappy as I think about how emotional I am as it is 'just a job' but yet I want to stop time and just enjoy her and my boys right where they are.
It is another reminder that I need my God. He is the one unchanging thing I have in life and that is precious. I know He is the Ultimate Protector of my children when I see these outside forces and He loves them even more than I. Time really does fly :-)

As my Senior High daughter gets closer to graduation I am clinging to God's wisdom and sharing God's word with her every chance that I can. A wonderful excerpt from Max Lucado's book- Grace For The Moment- gave me something wonderful to encourage my daughter with recently. 'Every good action and every perfect gift is from God.' James 1:17. "Ever feel like you have nothing? Just look at the gifts God has given you: He has sent His angels to care for you, His Holy Spirit to dwell in you, His church to encourage you, and His word to guide you. Anytime you speak, He listens; make a request and He responds. He will never let you be tempted too much or stumble too far. Let a tear appear on your cheek, and He is there to wipe it. Let a love sonnet appear on your lips, and He is there to hear it. As much as you want to see Him, He wants to see you more...You have been chosen by Christ... He has claimed you as His beloved."
Gosh! You're daughter seems so dang special! I bet she's pretty, smart, and funny too!
