Urgent Care #2

Levi and his friend Ethan were playing baseball in the house with a blow-up bat and ball (thanks Mom) when that blood curdling scream hit the airwaves. I was working on a client, who at the time was under the dryer. When I ran in the room, the blood was all over him. You know, those head injuries are so messy.

To urgent care or not to urgent care, that was the question. The client (Kristen) looked at it with me and we decided yes, this was a trip to be made. She helped me wrap and compress his head, that had been cut on the window sill, as I gave her a few instructions for finishing her hair. She was very gracious and understanding when I told her I would cut it at another time, even though she had a babysitter lined up for weeks. Poor thing, she had to drive home with a head full of foils and finish shampooing by herself. Boy am I glad I had the emergency-room queen with me at that particular moment. She has had way more experience with those emergencies and was very calm when I started getting a little concerned.

Three hours,a local goo, a shot, and five staples later, we were home and Levi was ready to roll. The fear of the staples were worse than the actual process. I think I may be able to get him to cut his hair through this experience, he was growing it out to be cool, but now wants it cut because the blood drying in it was painful. He will not be able to go swimming for a week and as the last days of summer pass by, I know there is some disappointment there. I am thankful to God who allowed this to be a minor injury, and that Levi will be fine on his road packed with boyish accidents.
