My Mama

This weekend Milan, Levi and I went to Las Vegas to see my mom. I had not seen her for a year and a half. That was way too long (sorry Mom). She looked really great.

She had a couple of strokes last year and a pacemaker put in (twice) and her health has not been the best. She was doing awesome. She is getting around better and seemed a lot like her old self. She wrestled with Levi a little and that really warmed my heart. She gave Milan anything he wanted or asked for, which I think warmed her heart. The kids know my Mom likes to spoil them and they remind me of that whenever I TRY to say no.

We went to this indoor sky-trampoline place. Wall to wall trampolines, complete with dodge ball and basketball all on the trampoline. Even though the kids were exhausted, Levi still wanted to go back the next day:-)

My mom took me to Bingo. Being that she works in the casinos, she knows them well. I, on the other hand, hate to give my money to someone without getting something in return (such as a cute new dress!)it just seems wrong. She has been wanting me to go to bingo for a very long time, so I finally conceded. I can see why people like it, it is entertaining and generally fun.

Frustration number one: It is harder than it looks and I learned that I have some practicing to do. Even though I was the youngest person in there, I was no competition for the seasoned bingo-dabber!! There really is a skill when looking at nine boards all at once while they continue to call the numbers you still have not located yet, and all the while trying to listen carefully to a garbled announcer.

Frustration number two: The same person should not be allowed to win bingo more than once in a game while us "newbies" have not yet won . They should not be able to gloat at their winnings and exclaim "I can't believe I won again!" within earshot of said other players. That is just wrong! I also feel they should not announce the winning pot amount, so as to not discourage said players who have still not won.

Frustration number three: Bingo should be easy to understand. The way some of those rules and terms worked, one would have to have had a mini-course in the direction a bingo can be derived at certain times. Who knew?? I think I might be a sore loser....o.k. I am a sore loser.

I did have fun even though my Mom laughed at my lack of knowledge and thought it was cute. I had a great time doing something she loves and had forgotten what a good teacher she is--very patient. More than that, just spending time with her was all I needed. I am thankful my kids were able to laugh and play with her once more, I know they loved it as much as I did.
