HAPPY 18th BIRTHDAY!!!

I can't believe my boy turned 18 today!! It seems only yesterday we were watching Barney (over and over and over again) and playing at Gymboree together.

Here he is winning the spelling bee in 8th grade.I was unable to scan any other photos because my scanner was being a pain in the butt!

I will keep this short as Nolan informed me today he is now of the legal age to buy a great set of knives at 2:00 in the morning for those 18 and above with credit card approval.

The Top 18 Reasons Why I Love This Boy:

1. The color purple has been his favorite since he was two and still is

2. He has never had a fear of doing things that could be risky (i.e. skateboarding, biking, rollerblading)

3. He has the best sense of humor and can laugh at himself (or me)

4. He is the only boy I know who when grounded, is forbidden to read books

5. He is thoughtful the way he calls his little brother "child" when he is being playful

6. He has a smart mind and when put to good use, can stump any trivial pursuit player

7. He is willing to try things that are difficult, and keep persevering, especially when he does not see the benefit (football, singing)

8. He loves games-any kind

9. He has the most tender heart, and can be such a great encourager to those he loves

10. He has had a love for fifties music, even when he was little, he and my mom knew all the best hits!

11. He has learned to forgive important people in his life

12. He loves the Lord with all his heart (he has informed me it is not the same conservative belief system that I run with, though)

13. He has an insatiable love for books

14. He loves pizza and hamburgers best

15. He serves his family without being pouty

16. He writes the most captivating stories and has since he was little

17. He spares no expense when he is buying a gift for someone, he loves giving gifts and is extremely thoughtful

18. He is my firstborn and will always hold a special place in my heart

My prayer for you, Nolan, is to serve the Lord in all you do and He will make your path straight.I will be praying for you as you grow in your journey onward.
