Football Fever

All summer long Milan has been up @ 5:45 a.m. for football practice only to go back at night for speed training. He has worked very hard, drinks at least 3 gallons of water a day and sweats at least 2 of it off.

He has always played baseball prior to this, but is learning that football requires much more of a commitment. It has been hard for him, but I know he is loving the challenge as well as the male bonding experience. This summer he went to camp up in Showlow for a week of training and sprained his ankle. He has had many injuries as you can see from the bloody picture above. This day he was hitting and got knocked in the nose from someone elses elbow. Scott is learning how to wrap his ankles via the internet, and it seems to be working.

I think Milan has learned a whole lot more about character, discipline and hard work rather than just football this summer. I know God has challenged him in the area of integrity when the language gets rough, as well as patience when times have been difficult. It is so much more about the journey rather than the destination.

I also learned it is not cool to take these pictures when other players can see me. I will have to invest in some better lenses! I am so proud of Milan and I can hardly wait to see him play in the fall.
