Cassidy and I took a trip to Portland, Oregon, the home of Multnomah University. Multnomah was her first choice for college because it was small and Bible focused, they support missions and she was ready for a change in temperature. As she has known a few of her youth leaders that are Alumni from there, she got the scoop on what to see while we were there. We both loved the college, the staff , and the seasonal weather.
It has been quite a process to college hunt. We have been through a ton of ups and downs. Although, I know seeking Gods will was the most important thing to her, when it was apparent that Multnomah was not going to work, there was heartache. It has been a journey for both of us, to seek what direction to go and push on doors to see what opens and to accept when they close.
It was a great trip for us together. We laughed a lot and without distractions were able to really focus on each other and just enjoy one another. We ate at some great restaurants, shopped in some really fun vintage stores, and just plain people watched. It is a different culture up there, a lot of diversity and coffee:)
I did learn that people do not pump their own gas there, and that was awkward at a couple of gas stations. I tried to pump my own and could not realize why they were so insistent upon helping. It felt very strange to let someone do that for me and to actually hand a stranger my debit card. Note to self: bring cash and be aware of laws like that next time!
I have a lot more to say but will save for another boring post in the future.
