Just returned from our church "in house" retreat. In this study Beth Moore, (my favorite Bible teacher for her in depth study of Gods word), glosses over the four different kinds of friendships we have in our life.
Whether a joyous friend,a testy friend, a foe, or someone we hardly know, Beth gives insight into loving them well. To do this, our love must be based on Gods perfect love. Sometimes we love people who are easy to love, making our effort minimal. Gods example of love for us is to demonstrate love to those that challenge us through difficulty. Therein lies the battle.
My own lack of maturity was revealed to me as I examined my friendships and realized God has placed certain people in my life who are there to bring out the worst in me in order for me to work on the imperfect character that lies within. YUCK! Is my ability to love others, even when they get on my everlasting nerve, bigger than my response to react unloving? This is where my growth needs to start.
I am glad I had the chance to be with friends, laugh, cry and most of all, spend time in the presence of God renewing just another place that I need Him!

Sounds like a precious moment with God! Thanks for sharing your heart.
Just wanted to let you know that you are on my "joy" list. Now that doesn't mean you should become a "testy" to help me love better!(I already have plenty of those!)
