Garden Reflections

I know I am blogging about my garden again, but I am just amazed at the process of seed to harvest. It has brought up many analogies to me about life, my spiritual walk, perseverance, and just plain fruit.

I just finished reading a book by Lysa Terkeurst, "Becoming More Than A Good Bible Study Girl" In it she compared a garden with living the life God has given us, each day at a time. She states, "Each day, a seed embraces the task placed before it. Today it might have to embrace the dark soil it has been pushed into. Tomorrow, it might be not resisting the water that makes it literally disintegrate and fall apart. And then in a week or two, a green shoot pushes up and out of the deep, dark, messy place. Eventually, the seed sprouts and reveals what it was always meant to be. The seed's potential is unlocked, and its purpose is revealed through embracing each and every circumstance God brought its way. Isn't it glorious, how nature doesn't resist God? Sadly, too many of God's people cannot say the same."

It was a great picture of my garden. Everyday there is just a touch more growth. When compared to what we started with, which was seeds, soil and water, there is a mass of growth. When compared to what the garden looked like the day before, it looks like minimal growth. The overall outcome is the harvest that was produced. I am in awe of this process. The taste is so much better, the convenience is great and the money we are saving is abundant. Not to mention the fact that I do not want to waste one single thing we have harvested by allowing it to spoil. It was a lot of hard work, and I have enjoyed the process just as much.

Daily, I have seen the care of my Gardener. He prunes what is stealing away the best nutrients from the better shoots from me. He puts me in the perfect light as He tends to my individual needs that will reflect His goodness. The Gardener enjoys the time we spend together as this journey continues to prove His creation is good. He simply delights in me.
