It was a foggy, cloudy day when Milan and Scott set out on the trail. All the rain recently only left two days in which Milan would be able to actually hunt. They set out about 5 a.m. for the rugged terrain.
They spotted a group of them including babies about noon. The hike was steep but the weather perfect. The javelina clan needed to come out of hiding. Milan spotted his choice and with one shot he was successful. I will spare the bloody pictures, but it was a great hunt.
I am not a fan of the stinky, smelly rodent, but they do make the best jerky. That is what Milan will be doing as he follows up with the real hard work of harvesting, cleaning and cooking the meat. I did not grow up in the outdoors, so the least amount I have to do to touch it, the better. I do appreciate Scott and his ability to pass this trade on to the boys. It is important for these men to learn to be warriors and manage the land in a healthy sense.
I am thankful for this chance for Milan to enjoy the outdoors as well as the experience gained in hunting. I asked him what the highlight was and he stated, "Mom, it was just fun." So there you have it.
