ALL STARS IN DOUGLAS

We spent a week for All-Star tournaments in Douglas, Az. There were a lot of emotions that week, from excitement, to downright sadness. The ups and downs of winning and losing. They lost the first game which put us in the loser bracket. I think they did not expect the other teams to be as good as they were. The competition was fierce and the game was good.

We were rained out two games and one game was put on hold for lightening. The outrageous game which went three extra innings in overtime, was very exciting. The boys were emotional. We ended up in third place overall, which was something to be proud of for the whole state of 9-10 year old boys! Losing is never easy, but there are lessons to be learned in humility as well as working together as a team with one purpose.

Levi did well and played third base as well as second. He learned so much about the strategy of baseball and also about himself. He is in a constant state of learning how to accept the fact that he is not perfect. There will be times of failure as well as victory. To do your personal best and to never give up when things seem impossible.

We had a great time in visiting these cities and traveling together with other families who love baseball as much as we do. The dynamics of others who believe differently than we do was a little challenging. There was a lot of adult partying going on and certain situations that challenged the Coach's decisions. It made it interesting to be an example of Christ while still being with these people and not holding to a place of judgement about their lifestyles. We hope we get to do this again someday, but if not, it is something we will cherish as a family
